Baha’i Communities of Iran: 1851-1921 Vol. 1 – The North of Iran

Kalimát Press, First Edition.

The early history of all the Bahá’í communities of northern Iran is narrated here for the first time. This panoramic yet detailed account of the largest to the smallest Bahá’í communities during the period 1851 to 1921 is drawn from original sources: manuscript histories, letters, family records and material previously published only in Persian. During this time, Bahá’í communities acquired characteristics that differentiated them from the rest of the population – their ethos and outlook, their system of administration and social institutions – and the persecution they faced as a result. Born in Iran but educated in England, author Moojan Momen has written many books on religion, particularly on the Bahá’ís, and is currently a Fellow at the Royal Asiatic Society.
